The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a cooperative game for one to four players. Players work together against the challenges of scenarios controlled by the game itself. This Living Card Game® regularly releases new cards and adventures, allowing players to customize the content of this Core Set or create their own decks.

The revised edition of the Core Set contains enough game components for up to four players to play simultaneously. In addition, at least one play-set (three copies of each card) of every player card is included. New Boon and Burden cards, as well as campaign cards, allow the Core Set scenarios to be linked into a campaign.
