You are a nomarch in ancient Egypt. The Pharaoh has entrusted you with the responsibility for a metropolis and its territory. The Nile flood is receding, and the lands of the valley are ready to offer their riches. Organize the collection of resources, build districts with the most lucrative businesses, supply them with goods, and earn the most Debens for the Pharaoh's honor. The player who best utilizes the resources of the Nile Valley wins the game. Fertility is a simple resource management game that presents you with difficult decisions. Each round, you collect some of the riches of the Nile Valley and immediately decide how to use them: supply one of your businesses to earn money, or use them to build new districts that offer new opportunities. Be wise, because your decisions are irreversible. None of the resources already stored in your shops can be moved or reused until the end of the game. But any resource not spent by the end of your round is definitely lost. Optimize your rounds and decisions if you want to win. A player goes through three quick and simple steps on their turn. First, they place a tile from the valley onto the central board to collect resources: alabaster, cattle, papyrus flowers, grapes, or wheat. They then have the option to use these resources to build a new District tile on their Metropolis board to open up new possibilities. Finally, they supply their shops in their metropolis by storing the remaining resources. Any resource a player leaves unused at the end of their turn is lost. The goal is to collect as many resources as possible, but even more so to optimize how they are used. The game ends after 9 rounds, and every fully supplied shop is worth money to its owner. The player with the highest amount of money is the winner.
