Frosthaven is the story of a small outpost far north of the capital city of White Oak, an outpost that has barely survived the harsh weather and invasions from known and unknown forces. There, a group of mercenaries at their wit's end will help bring this settlement back from the brink of destruction. Not only must they contend with the harsh elements, but there are also other, far more dangerous threats in the relentless cold. There are Algox, the larger, more yeti-like cousins of the Inox, attacking from the mountains; Lurkers, streaming in from the northern sea; and rumors of machines wandering through the frozen wastes of their own free will. The group of mercenaries must face all these dangers and perhaps, in doing so, make peace with these new races so they can fight together against even darker forces. Frosthaven is a standalone adventure from the designer and publisher of Gloomhaven, featuring sixteen new characters, three new races, over twenty new enemies, over one hundred new items, and a new 100-scenario campaign. Characters and items from Gloomhaven can be used in Frosthaven and vice versa. In addition to the familiar combat mechanisms of Gloomhaven, Frosthaven offers much more outside of combat, such as numerous puzzles to solve, a seasonal event system to experience, and player control over how this decaying village expands, with each new building offering new avenues for progress. Frosthaven has a whole host of new items, but there is a mechanic that brings items from "Gloomhaven" into play. However, since it is a remote location, these products are imported and are not standard there. Resources are much more valuable, and you have to craft items through a crafting system instead of simply buying them.
